If your "gut reaction" to this menu title is "Oh no...they're crazy" or something similar, then perhaps you need to reconsider a few things.

First of all, if you feel this way then you are part of a minority. Recent surveys place the percentage of people worldwide who believe that man is not the only intelligent life form as high as 70%.

Secondly, do some math, but you will need a supercomputer to hold the numbers. The known universe is beyond comprehension for most. The sheer statistical odds that we are "it", are overwhelmingly against that scenario.

And finally, it doesn't matter what you believe. What matters is "What would happen if a worldwide formal first contact event were to occur ?"

The likely pandemonium that would ensue would certainly cause some disruptions in the "status quo". We are not suggesting that such an event would be an "attack", in fact it would more than likely be an act of "friendship".

It wouldn't hurt to be prepared by having a safe place to contemplate the ramifications of such an event, nor would it hurt to be prepared for possible 2012 events.
